I’m excited to share that I was selected to participate in Vanderbilt University Law School’s Immigration Practice Clinic for the upcoming spring semester! I was first drawn to this work when I was in college and witnessed the Trump administration’s family separation policy and Muslim ban. These policies highlighted just how inhumane and cruel our nation’s approach to immigration and asylum can be.

While I was in college, I worked with my peers at Georgia Tech to address immigration issues within the state, like access to higher education for undocumented students who are currently prohibited from attending Georgia’s top public colleges and universities. In this way, the opportunity to participate in the clinic is a full-circle moment for me.

I’m also looking forward to the experience because it will help inform my legal research into the immigration system. This research will be valuable as I prepare my Note for the Vanderbilt Law Review, which focuses on immigration issues.

I’m looking forward to learning from this experience and doing my part to ensure that individuals within our immigration system are treated with dignity and respect.
