I was elected BLSA President!

Writer: Kyle SmithKyle Smith

I’m excited to share that I was elected President of the Black Law Students Association at Vanderbilt University Law School for the 2025-26 school year!

With so many issues affecting Black students, from the banning of affirmative action to attacks on DEI more broadly, we must be unapologetic in our advocacy and firm in our commitment to diversity and racial justice. In my role as Social Action Chair for BLSA, I’ve pushed for greater faculty, staff, and student diversity, and additional courses to educate students on racial inequity within the law. As President, I look forward to advocating for student affinity organizations to have a greater say in new faculty hiring, working with our firm sponsors, bolstering our recruitment and outreach efforts, particularly to Black men, and strengthening partnerships with BLSA alumni.

I’m grateful to my friends, family, and professors for their support, and I look forward to beginning my new role in the coming months!
