ABA Judicial Clerkship Program

Writer: Kyle SmithKyle Smith

This week I participated in the American Bar Association’s Judicial Clerkship Program as one of four students from Vanderbilt University Law School. As an aspiring judicial clerk, I am grateful I was selected to participate in this three-day experience, which brought together diverse law students and connected us with law clerks and judges. Throughout the program, I listened to oral arguments at the Arizona Supreme Court, spoke with numerous state and federal court judges, conducted legal research for a mock clerkship assignment, and gained useful advice for strengthening my clerkship application.

I’m excited to continue on this journey armed with the information provided by the program. Thank you to Vanderbilt Law School for selecting me for this wonderful opportunity and thank you to the countless judges, clerks, and staff at the ABA for making this experience possible!
